At Playdays our aim is to help each child to reach the highest degree of independence and confidence, as well as to discover their own strengths academically and creatively, and to pave the way for them to go on and be happy and inquisitive at school.
Pre School
It is at this age that Playdays aims to provide an education for each child that reflects the government's framework for the Early Learning Foundation Stage, in the six areas of learning:
- Knowledge & Understanding of the World
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Creative Development
- Physical Development
At this age Playdays introduces your child to more 'formal lessons' where the children work for short periods doing more involved and demanding exercises which help develop concentration. Each child progresses at their own pace, gradually learning about letters and numbers. The children will learn to direct and develop their mutual curiosity through creative work and play, with a strong emphases on letter and number recognition. We anticipate that each child when they reach the age of five, be able to make the move to a school with ease.
Emphasis is placed on the natural development of a child in all aspects of his or her life. Playdays believes that a child naturally wants to learn, and is allowed to develop at his or her own pace, and progresses with praise and encouragement. For the child to achieve such independence the envi-ronment is extremely important. At Playdays the classroom is always welcoming and has been created with all items at the correct size for the child to use, allowing physical freedom within the classroom. The teachers are there to maintain the environment, to set an example and above all to stimulate the children with a range of Pre-school and Montessori equipment. Daily activities include art, craft, music, drama, creative play, nature studies, singing and projects on relevant topics with all relevant weekly, monthly planners available for parents to see.
There are also extra curricular activities such as swimming, French and music and movement that are organised on a weekly basis Pre-school education improves the whole quality of childhood and later life but it must be fun and enjoyed by the child in order to gain any form of benefit. At Playdays we believe that this is the most important aspect in any activity. Any form of learning, reading or writing, should be considered and presented in the same way as story time and nursery rhymes.
Here at Playdays we ensure to provide your child with a solid foundation, and that as they progress through the nursery they will have gained confidence and enjoy the company of others as well as having learnt valuable skills to lead them on in life, and at the same time we hope that your child will remember Playdays with great happiness as a very special time in their childhood.
